Most AI tools fail in HR because teams buy software before they know which workflow they would change first or who would actually use it every day.
By Nelson Spencer

Most People teams jump straight to vendor selection without asking the fundamental question that determines success or failure. They focus on features, pricing, and implementation timelines while ignoring whether their team is actually ready to adopt AI.
Before evaluating a single AI vendor, ask: what specific workflow would we change first, and who on our team would actually use it daily?
If you cannot answer that question immediately and specifically, you are not ready to buy any AI tool.
Ready teams have identified pain points, know their current workflows intimately, and have someone who will champion adoption.
Assess workflow clarity, team readiness, data foundation, and leadership support before vendor selection.
If you are not ready, document one workflow completely, find your internal AI champion, and clean up the data foundation before you buy anything.
The most successful People teams start with readiness assessment before they talk to vendors. That foundation is what turns AI investment into real adoption.
